Job summary


Are you an experienced and motivated nurse with a passion for immunology? Join one of the UK's most established and respected Immunology services at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.


UHB's Immunology service, originally established in 1970 at Heartlands Hospital, was the first of its kind within the NHS. Today, we provide a comprehensive specialist service for both children and adults with a wide range of immune system disorders.


As a Band 7 Immunology Specialist Nurse, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care. You will support the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of patients with immunological conditions, working as part of a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.


The department is nationally recognised, having held accreditation for immunodeficiency services since 2012, successfully renewed in 2018 following assessment by the Royal College of Physicians' QPIDS accreditation unit.



Working Pattern



  • Monday to Friday service (5 days)

  • Core hours: 08:00 -- 17:30

  • No weekend working

  • Bank holidays off

  • Option to work compressed hours across 4 days per week

  • Please note: part-time or flexible working patterns are not available for this role



Main duties of the job



  • Deliver specialist care for patients with immunological disorders

  • Support diagnostic and treatment pathways

  • Provide education and support to patients and families

  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team

  • Contribute to audit, research, and service development
