Full Job Description
There are 6 Cardiac Imaging Consultants who take an active role in educational development of Cardiac Sonographers & Physiologists and also in chairing the weekly echo meetings where unusual cases and operational issues are discussed.
The Echo equipment used at West Herts includes 1 Philip's EpiQ, 6 GE E95's, 3 GE S70.
All scans are databased and reported on McKesson (Change Healthcare) which is linked across all sites and stress echo is reported on EchoPAC.
There are daily echo lists which include stress echo lists, both DSE and on a bike, and daily availability of TOE including 3D.
There are dedicated Specialists valve, heart failure and complex echo clinics running across the sites daily.
We are seeking to recruit an exceptionally skilled Echocardiographer at a Band 7, who shows evidence of excellent clinical ability and is eager to develop their managerial skills.
You should have an interest in both training and managing Echocardiographers and need to be keen to support the development of the rapidly growing Echocardiography Department.
You will be part of a quality assurance (QA) programme and will be key in the review of echos performed by junior staff.
Accreditation with BSE (or equivalent) is essential.
Any personal research or clinical interests including ongoing postgraduate study will be supported where possible, and we undertake to develop the successful applicant further.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
We are building on the success of our award-winning virtual hospital and re-imaging models of care, working ever more closely with partners and making the most of advances in digital healthcare.
Staff wellbeing and development are a priority at West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, as is the role of innovation in improving clinical care, outcomes and patient experience.
