Full Job Description
We are looking to enhance our senior nurse base and need an experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic nurse to join our team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, forward thinking nurse with a solid knowledge base of Vascular nursing and General surgery You must be punctual, flexible and committed, with a determination to ensure patients on the ward receive the highest standard of nursing care. Our patients are often complex and have varying degrees of dependency which will mean organising and prioritising care accordingly. You must be professional at all times, from the way in which you manage yourself and others, your appearance and approachability. You must have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with patients, relatives and other members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as your colleagues on the ward. You must be flexible and dedicated, with a willingness to drive change forward and to ensure good practice is embedded in the everyday care we deliver to our patients, General duties will include deputising for the ward manager in her absence, co-ordinating the ward on a regular basis, whilst also providing safe, personal and effective nursing care to our patients. Knowledge of wound management, enteral and parenteral feeding and administration of medication in various methods is also required. Monitoring and driving quality to ensure patients receive the best possible evidence based care, ensuring resources are used efficiently and in a sustainable way, supporting and mentoring staff to help them develop professionally in an environment conducive to learning are also essential. Communication skills must be excellent. You must be able to recognise and manage deteriorating patients accordingly and support junior staff in doing this also. As the ward also has patients that have been diagnosed with life limiting illnesses, experience of palliative care is preferred.
- NMC registered adult nurse
- Excellent communication skills
- Evidence of relevant surgical experience
- Familiar with Cerner system, At least 2 years experience as a qualified nurse
- Experience of enteral/parenteral feeding methods
- Experience of caring for acutely unwell patients, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
