Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and organised individual to join the established Trauma Nurse Practitioner (TNP) team as aTrauma Coordinator on a fixed-term basis to provide maternity leave cover. The post holder will play a key role in the day-to-day coordination of trauma patients, ensuring efficient patient flow, timely surgical planning, and effective communication across multidisciplinary teams. The role is pivotal in supporting service delivery, acting as the central point of contact for trauma referrals and pathway coordination.,

  • Prepare for and activelyparticipatein the daily trauma meeting and post-take ward round.
  • Coordinate ambulatory trauma patients, ensuringappropriate planningfor surgery or fracture clinic review.
  • Maintain and update trauma lists to support efficient patient flow and service delivery.
  • Patient Coordination and Communication:
  • Act asa central pointof contact for in-house trauma patients, supporting clinical reviews and ensuring required investigations are completed.
  • Provide guidance and support to trauma and outlying wards for patients of concern,facilitatingtimelyescalation where needed.
  • Elective (Cold) Trauma Management:
  • OrganisetraumaTCI (to come in) patients, including arranging pre-operative assessments and appointments.
  • Serve as a point of contact for patients awaiting planned trauma procedures.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings for specialist areas, including hand & wrist and shoulder & elbow services., Please refer to the attached Job Description and Person Specification for further details of the job role.

    Registered nurse 1st degree
  • Significant trauma & orthopaedic experience
  • Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Evidence of effective team working as part of a multidisciplinary professional team, Evidence of existing clinical skills / procedures as per job description
  • Experience of change management
  • Knowledge of cervical collars, traction, slings/splints/orthoses
  • Experience of clinical governance practices, audit, service evaluation or quality improvement in clinical practice
