Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for four Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapists to work as part of a multidisciplinary team each based at one of our four secure hospitals located in Birmingham. You will form part of an expanding Speech and Language Therapy service who are dedicated to supporting the communication needs of clients who present with mental health needs. Our hospitals provide assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for service users with mental health needs.
As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively alongside colleagues from Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Nursing and Medical services. A wide range of training opportunities relevant to the role will be available in addition to support by senior Speech and Language Therapists ensuring the successful candidate has the relevant skills work to within a mental health setting.
The post is fixed term for 12 months, no weekend working, flexible working requests considered up to 37.5 hours. Secondments considered.
Working as part of a dedicated Speech and Language Therapy team, this post would suit an applicant who has a genuine interest in working with young people and adults who present with complex mental health and communication needs and enjoys working in a dynamic environment., The role will be varied and include transferable assessment skills, planning and implementing evidence-based practice, reviewing and evaluating therapy using therapy outcome measures, provide advice to other professionals regarding the management of clients with communication needs, modifying materials, attending and contributing to clinical team meetings, report writing and completing administrative\managerial tasks relevant to the role.
Our hospital locations are The Tamarind Centre (B9 5PU), Reaside Clinic (B45 9BE) and Hillis Lodge (B31 5HE) which are secure units for men. Ardenleigh Hospital (B24 9SA) is a secure unit for under 18`s and women.

The successful candidate will initially enter a supportive probation period of six months. Flexible working options available.
The post holder must have a Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification and be registered with the HCPC. Membership to the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapist`s is desirable.

As part of the selection process you may be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, however all cases of criminal record history are dealt with on a case by case basis.
Please note, if applicable for your role you will be required to cover the cost of your DBS certificate. This will be deducted from your salary over 3 months. You will also be required to sign up to the DBS Update Service before commencement with the Trust. The Trust will reimburse this. You will be contractually obliged to maintain your subscription.
All successful applicants will be required to complete the Trust's induction programme. The Fundamental (Statutory and Mandatory) training will be in an e-learning format. You will be required to complete training modules online (approx. 9-14 hours depending on post) by the end of your second week with us.

Relocation expenses may be reimbursed subject to eligibility. The policy provides for reimbursement up to £8,000.
