Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the team at the Colman Centre for Specialist Rehabilitation Services within the East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust. The post will primarily be based in the Specialist Amputee Rehabilitation Service (Pine Cottage) with opportunity to work with the Norfolk and Suffolk Environmental Control Service as required.

The post holder will be joining well-integrated and established multi-disciplinary teams providing rehabilitation to a varied and challenging caseload of patients primarily aged from 18 years old and upwards. This will involve providing specialist Occupational Therapy to the inpatient Amputee Rehabilitation Unit and will include visits to community locations as part of therapy and discharge planning. The role may include opportunity to progress to working with patients on the prosthetic pathway aged from birth upwards in the outpatient setting.

The post holder may also be required to provide assessment for electronic assistive technology equipment to enable people with complex physical disabilities to live with a degree of independence in the community.

A full UK driving licence is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010, The post holder will need to possess excellent interpersonal and time management skills, be a good communicator and able to prioritise and work well as a member of a team. They will be responsible for carrying out assessments, planning and delivering interventions both with individuals, their relatives and carers and within groups to facilitate recovery, restoration of function following limb amputation, and supporting timely discharge from hospital.

The post holder will need to be clinically confident working with patients with neurological deficits, limb difference, multiple co-morbidities and rehabilitation needs. They will be competent in working with individuals in the ward setting and in patients own homes and be able to work effectively alone, in both the 'Occupational Therapy Team' and as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team. The post holder should have a collaborative and enthusiastic style, as well as a passion and commitment to develop and promote evidence-based practice.
