Band 6 Senior Mental Health Nurse - Eating Disorders

The post holder will have an allocated caseload of patients with eating disorders and mental health comorbidities. The role will contribute to duty screening, assessment, treatment and intensive outreach within the ED team. The nursing role contribute to the intensive pathway within SEDS providing treatment in the community and patient homes for those at risk of inpatient admission, supporting medical admissions and reducing LOS.

The Specialist Eating Disorders Service (SEDS) are seeking to recruit a Senior Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who is committed to working with young people and young adults with eating disorders. We are looking for a qualified nurses who have post registration experience of working with children, young people/adults with eating disorders and mental illness within a mental health setting.

Applicants will have experience of completing comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments within a mental health framework, therapeutic interventions for patients with eating disorders, physical health monitoring and CPA/Dialog+., The post holder will be required to have a high level of communication skills, both written and verbal, be compassionate, respectful and value individual patient needs. They will have the ability to recognise and manage challenging situations in a calm and professional manner (this may be clinic based or in the home), be resilient and emotionally intelligent and engage positively with children, young adults and families. An excellent working knowledge of child protection and adult safeguarding issues and processes for the age range 0-25 is essential.
