Full Job Description
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Physiotherapist within the field of Respiratory, to join the Luton & Dunstable Hospital's Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service.
The Pulmonary Rehabilitation service provides high quality, evidence based Pulmonary Rehabilitation to patients within Luton and South Bedfordshire. The service operates out of the L&D Hospital with the group sessions operating out of 3 community venues. The L&D Pulmonary Rehabilitation service is a multi-disciplinary service with both Respiratory Physiotherapists and Respiratory Nurse Specialists providing expert assessment and treatment for patients with chronic lung disease. The post holder would become part of a large Respiratory service, which incorporates 11 respiratory consultants, 8 respiratory nurse specialists, a respiratory physiology department and an experienced admin team.
The L&D hospital is a Tier 2 Severe Asthma Centre, working closely with the Royal Brompton Severe Asthma Centre and we also participate in monthly HyperInflation MDTs with Harefield Hospital., 1. To take a role in the management, development and evaluation of therapeutic interventions and MDT service delivery for Respiratory patients through all phases of the service, in liaison with the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Lead Physiotherapist and Specialist Respiratory Nurses.2. Participate in the development and delivery of education and training for other health professionals caring for patients with chronic lung disease.3. To perform advanced assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to determine a diagnosis and formulate and deliver an appropriate, effective individualised treatment programme.4. To act as a senior clinician within the service. Supervision is available from the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Lead Physiotherapist.5. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.6. To plan, supervise, educate and assess students on placement within the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team. Work closely with the
university and comply with all standards required for the degree level qualification.7. To design and undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice and improve service delivery, supported by the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Lead Physiotherapist and the Therapy Service Lead.
