Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced Physiotherapist to join the Orthopaedic Supportive Discharge Team.
The team treat a wide variety of orthopaedic trauma conditions and the aim of OSD is to provide a greater proportion of patients rehabilitation in their home rather than in hospital.
This post would be suitable for a band 5 looking to develop their skills into a band 6 or someone wishing to enhance their orthopaedic skills. They will work closely with other team members, the wider multi-disciplinary team and community partners to provide high quality care and improve patient outcomes.
The post holder should demonstrate competent clinical reasoning and management skills. They will be expected to progress leadership skills, contribute to service development and monitor standards of practice. The post holder will be supported to develop their clinical leadership skills through formal supervision and appraisals.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be expected to:
To undertake advanced assessments, clinical diagnosis and treatment of trauma and orthopaedic patients in their home environment. These patients often have complex and / or chronic presentations.
To work as an autonomous practitioner to undertake a significant specialist clinical caseload, working without direct supervision.
To take a role in supervision and teaching of physiotherapists, therapy assistants and students within the team and participate in multi-disciplinary team teaching.
To demonstrate leadership skills and contribute to service development and monitoring of standards of practice and developing multidisciplinary management of patients.
To participate in OSD weekend rota.
