Full Job Description

This role will be primarily based at the Rotherham Community Health Centre, with an expectation to work crosssite within the Trust to support service delivery, continuity of care and professional development as required. You will work closely with our Oculoplastic Consultants, nursing team and wider MDT to ensure safe, efficient and personcentred care across our Minor Ops, specialist clinics and the Ophthalmology department. As a Band 6 Nurse, you will contribute to the smooth running of the department, support junior colleagues, and play an active role in a range of specialist clinics including glaucoma, medical retina, paediatrics, emergency eye care and postoperative review clinics. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about Ophthalmology and ready to take the next step in developing specialist skills within a busy and rewarding outpatient environment and make a lasting difference to patient care. Main duties of the job The postholder will support the safe and effective delivery of ophthalmology outpatient services, with a particular focus on Minor Operations and Oculoplastics. They will prepare, assist and recover patients for minor procedures, ensuring high standards of infection control, safety checks and patient experience. The role includes undertaking advanced ophthalmic assessments, supporting diagnostic pathways and contributing to the smooth running of specialist clinics such as glaucoma, medical retina, paediatrics, emergency eye care and postoperative review clinics. The Band 6 Nurse will act as shift coordinator when required, supporting patient flow, managing clinical priorities and ensuring safe staffing across the department. They will provide clinical supervision, guidance and support to junior staff, promoting a positive learning environment and modelling high standards of practice.   • Recognised Nursing Degree or equivalent including a recognised teaching qualification/experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development through maintenance of an ongoing NMC revalidation
  • Experience in a Band 5 role in nursing relevant to post.
  • Desirable
  • Post-graduate qualification related to an area of practice
  • Knowledge Essential
  • An understanding of relevant legislation including Health & Safety.
  • An understanding of professional standards.
  • Awareness of current initiatives in the NHS.

  • Understands the need for strict confidentiality.
  • Able to participate in the collection of data to support effective service delivery.
