Full Job Description
This role requires to work across all sites that come under the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Under the supervision of the Manual Handling Advisor this post will assist in the development of the Manual Handling training service; supporting the Lead Manual Handling Advisor to provide a comprehensive manual handling service to the Trust.
o Lead in the delivery of training programs in Manual Handling practices to all staff. Training will take place in both the classroom and on-site settings and will include Patient and Object handling sessions.
o Provide professional advice on safer Manual Handling practices, training, Clinical Governance issues, and Manual Handling equipment under the supervision of the Manual Handling Advisor.
o Assist the Manual Handling Team in maintaining excellent communication internally within the Trust (eg: Learning and Development, Medical Education Team, Clinical Practice Educators ) and externally with training providers and contractors, to enhance the delivery of Manual Handling training and equipment provision.
The postholder will be expected to consistently demonstrate behaviours aligned to the Trust's shared commitments, embedding compassion, inclusion, integrity and excellence in their day-to-day practice.
Main duties of the job
TEACHING AND ASSESSING
o Provide clinical expertise and advice to managers and staff in relation to Safer Manual Handling practices
o Support and assist the Manual Handling Advisors in carrying out assessments for both patients and staff in all workplace settings as appropriate
o Lead in the development of, and delivery of Manual Handling training programs for all levels of staff
o Deliver training in a variety of settings covering most clinical areas and work environments in accordance with training needs, risk assessments and as directed by the Manual Handling Advisors
o Ensure all Manual Handling training is based on the latest evidence available (eg: HOP 7) and adheres to Trust guidelines for Manual Handling and complies with the Safer Handling Policy and requirements of relevant legislation
o Assist in any Trust wide review, audit and standardization of Manual Handling equipment under the guidance of Manual Handling Advisors.
Work in collaboration with the Manual Handling advisors to investigate adverse incidents related to Manual Handling
o Assist in regular audit and equipment checking systems that are in place as per Trust requirements.
o Participate in production of reports, policies and risk assessments for Manual Handling
