Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our CAMHS Eating Disorders Team. We provide specialist assessment and treatment for young people up to 18 with Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder and ARFID, as well as comorbid issues such as low mood, anxiety and neurodiversity. You'll join a diverse multidisciplinary team with strong nursing structures, a robust induction and ongoing training. We work collaboratively with regular joint working, peer support and clinical supervision. Ideally, you are a qualified mental health nurse with NMC registration and experience supporting young people with complex mental health needs in community settings. Our team includes psychiatry, nursing, psychology, family therapy, psychotherapy, dietetics and occupational therapy, working closely with outpatient, inpatient and adult services. We offer early specialist assessment and evidence-based interventions for young people and families. Role responsibilities:

  • Supporting duty service with initial telephone triage
  • Providing specialist assessments
  • Delivering therapeutic interventions
  • We welcome candidates with child and adolescent mental health knowledge; experience with eating disorders or neurodevelopmental conditions is helpful but not essential. Based in central Leicester, we encourage applicants who reflect our diverse communities.,
  • The post involves providing specialist assessment and intervention to children and young people and their families.
  • Responsibilities include attending MDT meetings, being part of formulation discussions, holding clinical responsibility for patients, working with families and wider networks such as social care and schools.
  • To provide specialist assessment of eating disorders alongside additional assessment of comorbid difficulties, such as trauma-related symptoms, alongside contributing to the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • To provide therapeutic input to young people and their families as part of their first line treatment for eating disorders. To also provide therapeutic input for comorbid difficulties such as low mood and anxiety.
  • To support the duty triage process by offering initial telephone reviews for new referrals.
