Band 5 Staff Nurse, 36 hours per week , Day case Unit , Fixed term for 12 months An exciting opportunity has arisen on the Day Case Unit to recruit highly motivated Band 5 staff nurses to join our dedicated team in order to provide a safe and efficient service to surgical patients. The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for all newly registered healthcare professionals. Healthcare Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period.Main duties of the job Candidates need to be flexible, enthusiastic and reliable- working independently and as part of a team. The unit is predominantly nurse led with input from other members of the multi- disciplinary team in order to provide a high standard of care to patients both pre- operatively and post operatively. You will be involved in the admission process as well as the discharge planning of a small group of patients each shift and be expected to access, plan, implement and evaluate their care needs. As a unit we operate using 20 beds and are open seven days a week, currently working 12hour day shifts (07.30-20.00) with future plans to finish at 22.00hrs due to the advances in day case surgeries and patient care., Please see attached job description and person specification for further information regarding the role and the essential and desirable criteria required to be met by applicants.

  • Student nurse in the NHS or general nursing within the NHS or equivalent
  • Continuing professional development with portfolio
  • NMC code of professional conduct
  • Equality issues and best practice, Medical speciality.

  • Relevant field of nursing
  • Supporting students, Teaching certificate or equivalent, Ability to work as a team member, without close supervision.

    The Trust will provide a twelve month preceptorship period for New to registration Nurses Midwives and Allied Health Professionals. Registered Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals returning to practice, moving into new roles or changing clinical environments, may access an agreed preceptorship period. Disclosure and Barring Service: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post: Standard Check: £21.50 + Administration cost of £6.50 = £28.00. Deducted from salary over following 4 months or one off payment.
