Full Job Description
As a Band 5 School Nurse, you will work as part of a supportive public health nursing team to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to school-aged children and their families. You will contribute to the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and support children and young people with a wide range of health needs across schools, clinics, homes and community venues. Working under the supervision of a Senior School Nurse or Team Leader, you will manage a delegated caseload and play a key role in promoting physical, emotional and mental wellbeing, early intervention and prevention.,
- Support the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme across universal and targeted services
- Undertake health assessments and provide evidence-based advice and interventions for children and young people
- Deliver health promotion activities within schools and community settings
- Support vulnerable children and families in line with safeguarding and early help frameworks
- Work collaboratively with schools, families and partner agencies to improve outcomes for children and young people
- Contribute to school and community-based drop-in clinics
- Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to service improvement initiatives
- Participate in supervision, training and continuing professional development
You will be a Registered Nurse with a passion for improving the health and wellbeing of children and young people. You will be confident working within a multidisciplinary team and committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care., Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse - Experience of working with children, young people and families
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child development and evidence-based practice
- A full driving licence and access to a car for community working Experience within school nursing, health visiting or community nursing would be desirable, but not essential.
