Full Job Description

The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner providing a physiotherapy service to a designated caseload of children with a range of physical and mobility difficulties and Special Educational Needs (SEN).
He/she will be expected to manage their own caseload with minimal support from a senior therapist. This post will involve travelling between schools and to the hydrotherapy pool.
He/she will be expected to work collaboratively children/young people (CYP), parents/carers and with colleagues in health, education and social care in planning and delivery of services.
The post holder will also participate in CPD activities, contribute to departmental meetings, clinical audit and projects. They will deliver training to other professionals and parents/carers on all aspects of physiotherapy. He/she will participate in supervising the work of volunteers and PTAs and learning support assistants., 1. To manage a outpatient caseload with support of a senior Physiotherapist. To complete therapeutic interventions and assess progress. and rehabilitation blocks.
2. To communicate complex patient related information effectively ensuring collaborative working with multidisciplinary team members across health, education, social services and the voluntary sector. To work with teaching staff to ensure the delivery of a well coordinated care/individual education plans/programmes, facilitating the development of physical skills.
3. To work closely with CYP, carers and families, involving them in decision making, regarding intervention approaches, demonstrating empathy and ensuring that effective communication is achieved.
4. To employ excellent communication skills such as persuasion, motivation and explanations to encourage/reassure CYP and carers to undertake treatment programmes.
5. To demonstrate negotiation skills in the management of conflict across a range of situations
6. To deal with initial complaints sensitively, avoiding escalation where possible and report to senior staff as appropriate.
7. To provide specialist clinical reports as per departmental standards, including initial assessment and discharge reports, and reports for annual review meetings and EHCP's.
