Full Job Description
The wards cover the care and treatment of inpatients who are residents of Barnet, Enfield, Haringey, Camden and Islington. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Technical Instructors, Music Therapists, an Art Therapist and an Activity Coordinator We also work closely with our Physiotherapy colleagues across the 2 wards. We are a dynamic team and provide opportunities for professional development and the ability to work creatively.,
- To actively participate in reviews of the therapeutic timetable, advising about clinical needs particularly of clients on own caseload.
- Providing evaluations of the effectiveness of treatment sessions.
- Completing both home assessments and functional assessments of patients in their own homes and on the ward.
- Prescribing minor adaptive equipment to facilitate patient discharges
- Attending ward rounds and care planning meetings
- Have effective time management skills, able to manage varied caseload demands around regular duties such as case reviews and group work, and to balance the roles of a clinician.
- To be actively involved in service developments for the Inpatient Therapies Team and the older adult wards. This will include:
- Actively contributing own ideas
- Being involved in carrying out and evaluating pilots
- Assisting in implementing developments

- OT Dip/BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy
- HCPC registered Desirable
- Membership of BAOT
- Evidence of other relevant postgraduate education.
Experience of mental health inpatient older adults and/or community areas, including individual and group interventions. - Clear concept of OT and models of practice.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Organisational skills
- Experience of risk assessment.
- Able to communicate effectively within a multi-professional team.

The Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Inpatient Therapies team has a fantastic opportunity for a full time Band 5 OT to join our welcoming and dynamic therapies team. We are a well-established, friendly and supportive inpatient therapies team covering 2 older adult wards at Chase Farm Hospital in Enfield including acute, rehabilitation and dementia. Our OT staff are committed to supporting the band 5 preceptorship process and will offer boundless cohesive support to newly qualified candidates. You will also receive regular supervision from a senior member of staff and participate in regular team meetings which incorporates embedded reflective practice. We are extremely committed to team training and CPD opportunities and are constantly striving for excellence through Quality Improvement and evidence based practice.
