Full Job Description
Join one of the UK's largest NHS Trusts and support the delivery of high-quality financial management. We are seeking a motivated Assistant Capital Accountant to join our Financial Accounts team.
In this varied role, you will support the monitoring and reporting of the Trust's capital programme. Responsibilities include producing monthly financial reports, posting journals, maintaining the capital asset register, and reconciling fixed assets to the general ledger. You will analyse capital expenditure, investigate variances, and prepare information for capital reporting and statutory accounts.
You will work closely with budget holders and finance colleagues, providing clear financial insights and ensuring projects remain on track. The role also supports financial planning, year-end processes, and ongoing improvements to systems and processes.
The ideal candidate will have finance experience, strong analytical skills, and be confident presenting complex financial information to non-finance staff. You should be highly organised, able to meet deadlines, and work independently and as part of a team.
University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust strives to have an inclusive culture where everyone feels like they belong, can thrive, knows that they add value and feels valued. We do this by developing compassionate and culturally competent leaders, being values driven in all that we do and by creating a welcoming and inclusive workplace that thrives on the diversity of our people. As such we want to attract and recruit talented individuals from all backgrounds, and for each of you to feel supported for the diversity you bring, to achieve your full potential. For those staff with a disability, including physical disability, long term health condition, mental health or neurodiverse condition, this also means being committed to making reasonable adjustments needed for you to carry out your role.
