Full Job Description

In addition to working directly with young people attending Reception through to Year 13, there is also an opportunity to support those whom are home schooled, on the emotional based school avoidance pathway and at risk of exclusion. Parents and carers as well as teaching staff within our education settings are included within our whole school approach offer and support for them is provided through workshops, training and dedicated interventions.

As an MHST Support Worker you will be expected to work autonomously but also as part of a dynamic mental health team in a creative environment where evidence-based interventions, new ideas, ways of working and supporting children and young people are actively encouraged. This approach requires flexibility and adaptability, and above all a passion for working with children and young people in educational settings. You will be provided with training around whole school approach and observing young people within various settings that may lead to a diagnosis. The skills you will bring with you into the post will enable you to develop your knowledge in common mental health problems via whole school approach and group support for children, young people and their parents. You will also gain more knowledge around the education system and the role of the Senior Mental Health Lead within the education setting.
