Full Job Description

There are two vacancies available for this role. There is one substantive post within the NIHR Welcome Trust CRF and one 12 months fixed term post within the ECMC team.

The post holder will be a member of one of the many research teams based at one of the UHB sites and responsible for supporting the research staff. They will be responsible for providing data management, and research administrative support, as needed for clinical study activities.

The post holder will be expected to contribute to databases for clinical studies and registries of research patients for local and national research projects. This will require the post holder to combine their IT knowledge with knowledge of the clinical research process.

We have active Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement programmes that are crucial to our research and the post holder will be involved in supporting these., Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, research partners, external agencies, patients, and service users to support the delivery of research studies. Act as a key point of contact, responding professionally and sensitively to enquiries, complaints, and challenging situations, escalating issues where appropriate. Liaise with clinical, administrative, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth patient pathways, support database development, and provide guidance on clinical trial processes while maintaining professional, courteous, and empathetic communication at all times.

Exercise initiative and sound judgement when dealing with enquiries, using acquired knowledge and experience to make informed decisions and resolve non-routine issues. Analyse, extract, manipulate, and interpret complex data from multiple sources, presenting information in a clear and understandable format to support reporting and decision-making. Identify situations requiring escalation to the Supervisor or Line Manager and take prompt, appropriate action. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills by assessing issues, proposing alternative solutions, and supporting the collection and provision of statistical data as required.

Prioritise all incoming work daily, including responding quickly and appropriately to urgent/important issues/queries referring to the Research Team where appropriate. Arrange meetings and appointments as necessary e.g. booking venues and hospitality for meetings.

The post holder will require excellent communication skills and will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
