Full Job Description

Join a dynamic and forward-thinking NHS Library & Knowledge Service where your work will directly support patient care, clinical decision-making, and staff development. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive information professional to deliver high-quality, evidence-based library services across the Trust.

Based at Good Hope Hospital and working closely with the Clinical Liaison Librarian, you will help shape and deliver access to electronic resources, undertake complex evidence searches, and promote the effective use of knowledge across multidisciplinary teams. You will also support the development of digital services, including KnowledgeShare, contributing to a modern, responsive library offer.

This role offers a broad and rewarding impact; from supporting clinical practice through literature searching, to delivering training, creating eLearning content, and using impact data to inform service improvements. You will also contribute to projects and ongoing developments within healthcare library services.

We are looking for someone organised, adaptable, and committed to excellent customer service, with confidence using digital systems and promoting services across a diverse organisation.

Candidates with a recognised Library and Knowledge qualification will be appointed at Band 5. Those without will start at Band 4 with support to complete a postgraduate qualification and progress to Band 5., Collaborate with the Clinical Liaison Librarian to assess user needs and select, evaluate and promote relevant electronic resources. Conduct complex literature searches via KnowledgeShare, delivering results within agreed timeframes.

Promote library services and resources to maximise engagement, and gather impact data to inform service development. Manage book stock, including selection, ordering, cataloguing and annual stock take. Upload publications to the institutional repository in line with copyright requirements.

Support the effective operation of KnowledgeShare, including reporting and system management, and ensure accurate processing of invoices. Maintain library IT equipment, liaising with IT and suppliers to resolve issues and ensure services remain operational and compliant.

Supervise library assistants and apprentices, supporting their development through training and guidance. Deliver training sessions, inductions and resource demonstrations, and contribute to eLearning development.

Deputise for senior colleagues when required and contribute to projects and service improvements across the Trust.
