Full Job Description
The Band 3 Receptionist will provide a professional, welcoming, and efficient front-of-house service within the Urology Diagnostic Unit at St Albans City Hospital. The post-holder will be the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and clinical staff, ensuring a smooth patient journeyfrom arrival to departure.
They will manage reception duties including greeting and admitting in patients, maintaining accurate patient records, coordinating appointment flows, and supporting the clinical team with administrative tasks., Manage patient flow through the unit by coordinating appointment times, liaising closely with clinical staff, and responding promptly to changes in schedules or urgent clinical needs.
The role includes handling telephone enquiries, providing clear information to patients and relatives, and signposting them appropriately.
The receptionist will support the administrative function of the unit by preparing clinic lists, managing incoming correspondence, scanning and uploading documents, and maintaining confidentiality in line with Trust policies.
The role requires excellent communication, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to delivering highquality patient care.
The post-holder will uphold the Trust's values, maintain confidentiality at all times, and contribute to creating a positive, patient-focused environment within the diagnostic unit.
