Full Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised Clerical Officer to join our Ultrasound/Radiology administration team. This is a full-time post (37.5 hours per week), working 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday, across St Albans City Hospital and Hemel Hempstead General Hospital.
As an important member of the Radiology team, you will provide a professional, efficient and patient-focused administrative service.
We are looking for someone with excellent communication and customer service skills, who is organised, confident working in a busy environment and able to prioritise effectively.
A key responsibility is the management of radiology and ultrasound appointments, referrals, and waiting lists. This includes processing referrals, booking examinations, monitoring pathway targets, coordinating appointments with clinics, advising patients on preparation requirements, and escalating any risks to patient access or waiting time breaches.
The role requires effective liaison with clinicians, wards, transport services, and external agencies to ensure the efficient utilisation of clinical sessions and the smooth running of imaging services.
Accurate use of multiple clinical systems, including PAS, CRIS, PACS, and IEP, is essential to maintain patient records, manage imaging requests, and support timely patient care.
With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.
We are building on the success of our award-winning virtual hospital and re-imagining models of care, working closely with partners and making the most of advances in digital healthcare.
Staff wellbeing and development are a priority, as is the role of innovation in improving clinical care, outcomes and patient experience.
Our vision is Excellent patient care, together and our values are to be empowered, compassionate, professional and inclusive. They capture an important balance across what we must all do as individuals and to support others.
