Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Band 3 Respiratory Support Worker to join the Community Respiratory Team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. This role offers the opportunity to support the delivery of high-quality respiratory care across a range of community, outpatient and healthcare settings, working alongside specialist nurses, physiotherapists, consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will play an important role in supporting patients with respiratory conditions and assisting in the delivery of respiratory diagnostics and assessments. The successful candidate will be passionate about patient care, keen to learn new skills, adaptable to different working environments and committed to supporting patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes. - Supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred respiratory care across a variety of community and outpatient settings.
- Assisting with respiratory diagnostic investigations, including spirometry and FeNO testing.
- Undertaking clinical observations following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Supporting patients to access respiratory assessment and treatment services.
- Maintaining accurate patient records and clinical documentation.
- Assisting with equipment checks, stock management and infection prevention measures.
- Working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary respiratory team.
- Contributing to service development, quality improvement initiatives and audits. A key element of this role is likely to include supporting respiratory diagnostic services. Successful candidates must be committed to undertaking specialist training and competency development in respiratory diagnostics, including spirometry. This training forms an essential part of the role and provides an excellent opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and skills within respiratory care. A willingness to attend training and participate in ongoing professional development is essential. Therapy Services deliver care across a range of hospital, community and outpatient settings. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly across locations. The role requires a flexible approach to working practices and a willingness to adapt to changing service requirements.
