Full Job Description

· Liaise with all other departments within the hospital, i.e. wards, medical outpatient departments, medical records, etc. with regard to all aspects of patient care, e.g. Appointments, investigations etc. · Assist Research Nurse with patient's study visits and clinical trial procedures. This will include venepuncture, vital signs, placement of Holter ECG monitoring equipment and ECG recording (after appropriate training) · Operate computer systems to enter and retrieve data (Trust electronic patient records & Microsoft Excel etc.). · Maintain screening logs for clinical trials. · Collection of data using a variety of methods (face to face contacts; telephone; email etc) · Identification of suitable patients for clinical trials (Screening medical records / wards / clinics) after appropriate training. · Deal with telephone enquiries from patients, relatives, medical staff and clinical trial personnel, recording messages where appropriate. · · Retrieval of medical records, investigation reports, etc. · · General clerical duties including filing, photocopying, faxing and correspondence. · Attend training courses as and when required. · To comply with ICH GCP. · Promote, monitor and comply with all aspects of Health and Safety.   • Experience of working in a Health Care setting, Medical Terminology
  • An understanding of ethical and quality standards applicable to clinical trials, including EU Directive on ICH GCP requirements
  • Desirable criteria
  • Good working knowledge of Hospital information systems, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and personal
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy, e.g. in the capture and validation of clinical trial data
  • Sufficient computer skills; Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Internet and email.
  • Ability to use tact and a sensitive approach to patients and relatives
  • Desirable criteria
  • Venepuncture/Cannulation skills, Flexible approach to work
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own work load and use own initiative
  • Willingness to undertake training
  • An interest in the area/speciality of the research
