Band 2 Phlebotomist (Ward Based)

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced phlebotomists to join our Phlebotomy team at Heartlands Hospital.

This is an interesting and wide-ranging post requiring a caring person with excellent communication, good interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure. Successful candidates will have had recent clinical experience undertaking phlebotomy (preferably within the last six months) and are expected to complete our local training and competence assessments following appointment., The role requires a flexible approach to duties and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment. The role involves obtaining blood samples from Inpatients and Outpatient areas which includes paediatric patients. An essential requirement of the post is an ability to work as part of a team without direct supervision and to deal with patients in a confidential, professional, and sensitive manner.

Suitable applicants will also need to have a desire to learn and contribute effectively to patient care and be capable of working as part of a team, but also to take responsibility for their own work.

The post holder will be based at Heartlands Hospital and will be providing a ward based phlebotomy service between the hours of 07:30 - 12:30 Monday - Friday with some rotational Saturday shifts - exact hours to be discussed/confirmed upon appointment. Fixed term/secondments will also be considered.
