Full Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic clinical support worker administrator to work in a fast paced clinical service. The suitable candidate would join our clinical support worker admin team supporting the Dietitians and Dietetic staff across the Dietetic service for East Lancashire. This is a part time role working 30 hours across Monday to Friday (6 hours per day) . The team working hours are between 8.30am to 4.30pm and the successful post holder can agree prior to post commencement their preferred start and finish times within these hours. The service is happy to support school hours working. The post is primarily based at Brierfield Health Centre.Main duties of the job Be the first point of contact for patients contacting the department. Ensure urgent patient requests are managed in a timely manner and the relevant Dietitian is aware. Support Dietitians with their patient preparation for clinics, patient groups, domiciliary visits and telephone reviews. Action Dietitian requests following their patient reviews for example sending patients relevant diet sheets/ information or tube replacement parts or outcomes of nutritional supplement drink trials. Complete clinic inputting data for specialist clinics Undertake general administrative duties to support the clinical teams. Provide remote cover for the other clinical support worker teams based at Royal Blackburn Hospital covering the Paediatric, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, Oncology and ward Dietetic teams.

Good IT skills as the majority of the role is IT based. Good communications skills including helpful telephone manner and good problem solving skills. The majority of the role requires interaction with patients by telephone to help solve their queries. Ability to perform a range of administrative duties including accurately documenting in patient records or collating information from patient systems. Organisational and time management skills to ensure tasks are prioritised and urgent patient queries are managed in a timely manner. Good interpersonal skills - the role requires supporting the busy clinical teams working at fast pace. The department uses patient systems such as EMIS, Cerner and ICE so experience working with these system would be desirable,

  • GCSE Maths and English C/4 or above or equivalent, Complete or willingness to complete Care certificate, Worked in health care or care environment
  • Worked in an administrative role
  • Worked or volunteered in the NHS, IT skills including Microsoft office 365
  • Ability to perform administrative duties including documenting in patient records
  • Problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Organisational and time management skills, Able to work with varying demands and environments
  • Understand when to seek support and advice

  • The post holder would be supported by a Team administrator as well as from fellow peer clinical support worker administrators in the team and from across other clinical support worker teams in the Dietetic service. You may need at times to work from other Dietetic locations including Royal Blackburn Hospital and other localities across East Lancashire for example for training purposes. The Dietetic Department has nearly 80 staff and is based across East Lancashire and covers a wide range of specialties both in the hospitals and in the communities.
