Full Job Description
We are looking for a Senior Health Care Assistant to work within our large Outpatients Department, which is part of the West Hertfordshire NHS Trust, based at St Albans Hospital, and sees approximately 78,000-80,000 patients per year.
These hours will comprise of 4 days per week, 08:00-18:00, which will be allocated Monday to Friday.
We are looking for an individual who is extremely hard-working, patient-focused, and able to work to deliver the best care to our patients.
You will need to be a motivated, enthusiastic, organised, and knowledgeable leader who enjoys working within a large team of all bands, including Student Nurses at all levels.
To assist and chaperone with patients who are attending clinics in the Outpatients Department.
To set up and oversee clinics of varied specialities.
To assist the Registered Nurse with specified clinical activities.
Under the supervision of the Registered nurse prepare and undertake agreed clinical activities with patients in clinics.
To prepare and maintain the environment for clinical activity.
To ensure to maintain the privacy, dignity and individuality of the patients at all times.
To be flexible in the performance of the post, particularly regarding clinics, hours and OPD site, and to carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by senior staff.
With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.

We offer a 5-day service to all of our patients. We have 22 different clinics within our department, each requiring different skills to run effectively.
Safeguarding all of our patients is of the utmost importance, and we offer a chaperone for every patient if there is a need.
The post holder would promote the safe delivery of care to all of our patients, providing leadership within the clinical area and being able to lead by example.
Continual development and updating of skills is an essential part of our role as Senior Healthcare Assistants to accommodate an ever-changing service.
