Full Job Description
The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is seeking an experienced Line Manager to lead and support our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) Supervisors and Operatives across various locations throughout the Yorkshire and Humber region. In this pivotal role, you will ensure the delivery of a high-quality AVP service across the Trust. Reporting directly to the AVP Deputy Manager, you will provide primary frontline support, overseeing geographical service provision, logistics, operational staffing, and training. You will also be responsible for estates defect reporting, sickness absence management, and staff appraisals, while deputising for the Deputy Manager when required. Working Pattern & Requirements + Rota-Based: This role requires flexibility to cover management duties and assist in the operational running of AVP sites when supervisory cover is unavailable. + Shifts: While some day shifts are required, the role is predominantly evening and night work. · A driving license with category C1 IS ESSENTIAL - You will be required to confirm within your application that you hold a full C1 Category on your driving license which must also be valid in the UK., As a leader within the AVP department, you will monitor performance against key indicators, including productivity, quality, and compliance. We are looking for a manager who leads with a supportive and creative approach, empowering team members to contribute to service improvements., + Performance Management: Analysing team data (e.g., vehicles prepared per shift, audit scores, and cost-efficiency) to implement corrective and developmental actions. + Team Leadership: Conducting yearly appraisals, monthly 1-to-1s, and managing employee relations or incident investigations. + Operational Excellence: Identifying risks to vehicle preparation, producing dynamic risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to business continuity plans. + Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships across A&E Operations, Fleet Services, Estates, and Medical Devices to ensure seamless service delivery. + Communication: Handling complex or sensitive conversations with compassion and tact, ensuring YAS values are embedded in every interaction.
+ Experience: Significant supervisory or management experience, preferably in multi-site operations or patient safety-related provisions. + Leadership Knowledge: NVQ Level 4 in Team Leading/Management (or equivalent experience) and NVQ Level 3 in Training Delivery (or equivalent). + Safety & Compliance: Proficiency in Health and Safety, COSHH, and Risk Assessments (ideally within a cleaning or logistics sector). + Education: GCSE Grade C or above (or equivalent) in 5 subjects, including English and Maths. + Technical Skills: Strong IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office packages.
