The Region is currently recruiting for an Automation Technician who will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and daily fault repair of remotely controlled switchgear and associated equipment, including all communication systems supporting this within the electrical distribution up to 11 kV.

Responsibilities

• Installing and commissioning automation schemes.


• Monitoring and supervising contractors throughout the Ridgeway region.


• Fault finding, repairing, and maintaining automation defects daily, using multiple manufacturer equipment.


• Maintaining and installing automation electrical equipment on the electricity network up to 11,000 volts.


• Ensuring works are completed within specified time frames and restoring the network to normal operation as quickly as possible.


• Providing emergency response to fault scenarios.


• Adhering to safety policies and procedures, with safety being a key priority at SSE.


• Managing your work program effectively.


• Learning and developing role-specific automation knowledge.


• Obtaining SSEN operational authorisations CAT 1, 2, 4, 5, and 7.


• Motivated to work independently and within a team.


• Traveling across various locations to support business needs, with access to a company vehicle or cash allowance (not contractual).


• Possession of a valid driving licence is essential.


• Training provided for CAT 4E, CAT 7, and automation installations if required.
