Job description:

Are you the engineer everyone turns to when the automation stops? Do you thrive on fault-finding, problem solving and keeping highly automated operations moving? Looking for a role where your expertise directly impacts site performance every single night in one of the UKs leading logistics operations?

Here at GXO, we're searching for an Automation Maintenance Engineer to join our dedicated night engineering team at our highly automated fashion distribution centre in Crick. Working in a fast-paced operation, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the performance, reliability and availability of cutting-edge warehouse automation technology. From investigating faults and restoring equipment to supporting long-term reliability improvements, you'll help ensure the operation continues to deliver for our customer around the clock. This is an ideal opportunity for an engineer who enjoys troubleshooting, takes pride in high equipment uptime and wants to work with advanced automation systems in a dynamic logistics environment.

This is a full time, permanent position working in the Panama shift pattern of 2-2-3 or 2-3-2 from 19:00 to 07:00

Pay, benefits and more:

We're looking to offer a salary of up to £54,000.00 per annum, and 24 days annual leave (including bank holidays). Your benefits package includes a company sponsored pension scheme, private medical & dental insurance, a 24/7 online GP service, life assurance and a fully comprehensive employee assistance programme. You’ll also have access to our MyBenefits platform offering a variety of high street discounts, a cycle to work scheme, cashback cards, a saving scheme and much more!

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on automated warehouse equipment

  • Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime

  • Complete root cause investigations and implement corrective actions

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance

  • Accurately record maintenance activities and ensure compliance with safety standards

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Previous experience working with automation, conveyors, sortation systems or material handling equipment

  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities

  • Experience working in a fast-paced operational or manufacturing environment

  • Relevant engineering qualification NVQ Level 3, ONC or equivalent

  • A proactive approach to problem solving with a strong focus on safety and reliability

We engineer faster, smarter, leaner supply chains.
