Full Job Description

  • Manage the AP register including authorisation levels, expiries, training and re authorisation cycles.
  • Issue, review, suspend or revoke authorisation where necessary, ensuring a robust governance process.
  • Lead the recruitment of LV Authorised Persons across UK and Ireland projects, including developing technical interview questions, assessing candidate competence, and supporting HR throughout selection and onboarding.
  • Verify credentials (ECS, qualifications, right to work) and evaluate, approve, and review all Authorised Persons before they are appointed to site, ensuring full compliance with Kane Group standards. Work closely with the Compliance team to define minimum requirements for new employees and undertake site reviews of existing APs on all new projects.
  • Working with operation teams to deliver correct AP personnel within the needed timeframe to follow Kane's AP roles and requirements.
  • Provide coaching and technical support to APs, supervisors, and project managers during installation and commissioning phases.
  • Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain complete, audit ready records for authorisations, assessments, training and technical documentation.
  • Produce monthly reports covering AP performance, assessment outcomes, audit findings, and compliance metrics.
  • Clear authority to intervene, stop works, and mandate corrective actions where LV safety, isolation, or temporary electrics are not compliant.
  • Involvement at pre construction and mobilisation stage - reviewing LV strategies, temporary power arrangements, and energisation sequencing.
  • Work closely with Commissioning, Operations, and HSEQ teams to ensure effective communication, coordination, and aligned responsibilities.
  • Support external audits and client/Principal Contractor electrical assurance requirements.
  • Act as Kane's LV technical authority in audit discussions with clients, Principal Contractors, and third party auditors.
  • Act as cover for the Authorised Person role where required, including stepping in during periods of absence such as holidays or training.

    NVQ level 3 in Electrical installations (C&G 2365/2330 or equivalent)
  • City & Guilds 2391 Testing and Inspection qualification or equivalent
  • SMSTS
  • Recognised LV Authorised person or Senior Authorised person qualification
  • 18th Edition
  • ECS Black Card
  • Emergency at work First Aid qualification
  • Full UK Driving License
    • Desirable
  • Assessor Qualification (TAQA or internal equivalent)
  • IOSH Managing safely qualification
  • HV awareness qualification, 3+ years' experience as an LV AP or SAP within construction
  • Strong background in Low Voltage isolations, testing, commissioning and permit systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of compliance, audits, and electrical safety rules
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary MEP teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong working knowledge of temporary and permanent Low Voltage systems.
  • Sound knowledge of Electrical installation and familiarity with all installation standards
  • Strong knowledge of BS7671, GN3 testing and all electrical compliance.
  • Sound knowledge of Electrical project contract documents
  • Experience of checking setting out dimensions

  • Understanding of site permit control and need to complete correctly
