Full Job Description
As an Audit Assistant you will join us on our journey and undertake a valuable role responsible for contributing to the delivery of functional objectives, reporting to the Head of Internal Audit. The Audit Assistant is a key member of the Internal Audit team always modelling the Post Office behaviours and demonstrating a Postmaster-first mindset. Acting as a trusted advisor, the Audit Assistant will share their internal audit expertise, demonstrating best practice across internal controls, governance, and compliance. The Audit Assistant will, under supervision, work closely with teams across the business, dependent on the work assigned. Outputs from work performed will be reported to the relevant Executive member, Risk and Compliance Committee and Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee to provide them with assurance on the areas audited. - Proven experience collaborating with peers, colleagues, and stakeholders to contribute to the delivery of functional strategy to achieve business objectives.
- Experience in establishing successful, cross-functional stakeholder relationships.
- Demonstrable experience of working as part of a team on the delivery of project milestones to achieve key objectives.
- Holds a recognised Internal Auditing, Accountancy or similar qualification, or expresses the intention to study towards such qualification.
- Previous experience in internal audit, either in practice or industry desirable.
- Ability to assess business processes, identify risks, and evaluate controls to provide meaningful assurance.
- Knowledge of current developments in governance, risk management, and audit practices. Skills and Capabilities
- Able to develop relationships and conduct effective interviews with both management and colleagues across the business.
- Ability to operate both individually and within a team, demonstrating adaptability and proactivity to ensure successful delivery of team and personal objectives.
- Demonstrable ability to interpret and / or summarise technical issues for a non-technical audience, able to provide pragmatic and workable solutions that meet the needs of the business as well as deliver on audit requirements.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to agree remedial actions with management.
- Ability to build and manage relationships at all levels of the organisation, a track record of excellent stakeholder management.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision.
