Full Job Description
The Headmaster is looking for someone who can plan ahead, and has a proactive, helpful 'can do' approach. Experience of dealing with confidential information, as well as interacting calmly and efficiently with pupils, parents and school staff with be key in this role. Key Responsibilities:
- To manage the day to day administration of school attendance and punctuality and to use systems to improve on baseline figures as set by the school
- To offer additional administrative support to colleagues across the school
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults
- Take responsibility for the administration of pupils late to school, recording lateness data on the school system and producing reports of daily figures.
- Check that electronic registers have been entered and follow up missing registers with individual members of staff
- Check pupil absence and follow up using agreed systems, check on children at risk of truanting, initiate and carry out periodic truancy checks.
- Be available to staff and parents for meetings about individual pupils, provide regular updates and data as requested, including home visits.
- Liaise with key staff and other support services to improve attendance rates, keep up to date with current technology and oversee the training of staff in attendance and registration issues.
- Work with new staff to ensure that school systems of registration are adhered to and participate in the development and implementation of school reward systems in relation to attendance.
- Ensure that registration systems are developed and correctly administered and report on the quality of the registers
- Make contact with feeder primary schools during the transition period and gain any relevant information about pupil attendance. The Ideal candidate will have:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office systems, including Office 365.Excellent Outlook, Word and IT skills; experience of using ISAMS databases would be advantageous, but not essential.
- Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure. Flexibility and willingness to work as part of a team is important.
- Discretion, tact, confidentiality and loyalty at all times.
- Good level of general education, demonstrating a high standard of literacy skills to prepare correspondence/reports and maintain records. Accuracy and attention to detail is required.
- Good telephone manner in dealing with a range of callers.
- An appreciation of the School, its aims and ethos.
- Previous experience of working in a School environment is desirable, but not essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Positive approach and can-do attitude.
- Communicate effectively and professionally when engaging in all aspects of school life including to our parents/stakeholders/staff/students/Governors.
- Show resilience in dealing with deadlines and priorities in a busy school environment.
- Show a highly organised and calm professional attitude at all times showing a proactive not reactive attitude to the role.
