Full Job Description

We are working closely with a local authority in Walsall to assist with the appointment of an Attendance Officer, on a 5.5-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration., The Attendance Officer will provide effective attendance support to schools, pupils, children, young people and families as part of the School Attendance Support Service. The role will focus on monitoring and improving school attendance, identifying barriers to regular attendance and working collaboratively with families and schools to develop appropriate solutions. Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyse pupil attendance information and identify patterns of absence, persistent absence and emerging attendance concerns.
  • Undertake home visits and parental meetings to address attendance concerns and encourage improved school participation.
  • Support children and young people who are at risk of becoming persistently absent and promote positive engagement with education.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence and case documentation as required.
  • Manage a varied and busy caseload effectively, prioritising work according to risk, need and statutory timescales.

    Educated to a good standard, with relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in education, attendance, family support, children's services or a related field.
  • Relevant training or professional development relating to children, young people, education, attendance, safeguarding or family support.
  • Essentials:
  • Experience of working with children, young people and families.
  • Experience of working within an educational setting or a role involving direct support to schools and pupils.
  • Experience of supporting or improving school attendance and addressing barriers to regular attendance.
  • Experience of maintaining accurate records and producing clear reports and written documentation.
