Attendance Officer

A well-regarded secondary school in Coventry is seeking a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral and admin team. This is a highly rewarding role for someone who understands that strong attendance supports safeguarding, wellbeing and achievement-and who enjoys working with families, pupils and staff to ensure routines are followed consistently. Attendance is a whole-school priority, and this role plays a key part in protecting learning time every day., As Attendance Officer, you will support daily attendance and punctuality processes, ensuring accurate records and timely follow-up. Responsibilities typically include:

• Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality and ensuring registers are accurate
• First-day response calls/messages and logging outcomes clearly
• Identifying patterns of absence and escalating concerns appropriately
• Supporting attendance meetings and action plans
• Producing attendance reports and information for pastoral leaders
• Liaising professionally with families and external agencies where required
• Supporting safeguarding through accurate attendance information and prompt follow-up
  
  Experience in attendance, admin, pastoral support or a similar role (school-based desirable)
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with families
• Excellent organisation and accurate record keeping
• Confidence using IT systems, spreadsheets and database-style platforms
• Understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding and professional boundaries
• Calm, consistent and solution-focused approach
