Full Job Description
- Collate and check student registers daily for accuracy and completeness
- Record absence marks for students whose parents have reported illness
- Monitor the dedicated absence line and respond to messages from parents/carers
- Contact parents/carers of students with no recorded attendance mark
- Produce and distribute the daily fire register
- Maintain and update attendance records and student data systems
- Monitor attendance patterns and identify trends or concerns
- Set and review attendance targets for individuals and groups of students
- Maintain detailed records (e.g. pen portraits) for students causing concern
- Liaise with the Headteacher, Attendance Champions, and pastoral colleagues regarding persistent absence
- Communicate attendance concerns and updates to relevant colleagues
- Support the development and implementation of attendance reward systems
- Prepare Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN) documentation and follow processes through to completion
- Manage the daily calls spreadsheet and allocate follow-up actions to appropriate colleagues
- Use data to inform interventions and support strategies
- Conduct home visits where appropriate to support students and families
- Attend weekly meetings (e.g. SB&I) to discuss student support and attendance strategies Provide administrative support for year group pastoral matters
- Support wider pastoral systems, including supervising the Reset Room (approximately 1 hour per day) and providing occasional cover where required
- Proactively suggest improvements to attendance systems and processes
- Undertake relevant training to support the role and ongoing professional development
- Complete safeguarding training and adhere to child protection procedures at all times
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including Health and Safety and Data Protection
