Full Job Description
Permanent post within the Biochemistry Department at The Royal Derby Hospital site and offers exciting opportunities for learning and development of existing skills.Applicants should have a Science Foundation Degree level (Skill level 5) or equivalent level 5 qualification. In addition Pathology Laboratory experience is required. You should be enthusiastic and self motivated with good communication, excellent IT skills, planning and organisational skills.After undergoing a suitable training period, the successful applicants will participate in a shift rota which covers 24hrs, 7 days a week. This is a mandatory requirement due to provision of a robust 24/7service., Associate Practitioners are required to assist the Biomedical Scientist staff. They are required to perform analyses of patient samples using both manual and automated methods, perform analyser maintenance and IQC and package and send away referred work to other hospitals. You will be required to: This role provides 24/7 support to blood sciences and requires skills and knowledge to prepare and process a variety of biological specimens including blood, urine, and other biological specimens using a variety of highly complex automated, semiautomated and manual techniques in accordance with agreed protocols and standard operational procedures, from receipt in the laboratory through the analytical process, up to validation but not including authorisation. Maintain clinical records in relation to activities carried out, this may involve inputting and/or investigation of test results produced by other staff.
