About the role The post holder will contribute to teaching of Portuguese language and culture at undergraduate level and will teach 8-10 contact hours weekly during the teaching term. They will be assigned a number of Personal Academic Tutees. There may be opportunities to undertake teaching and/or dissertation supervision in other programmes in SELCS-CMII, such as Film Studies or Comparative Literature, depending on the expertise and experience of the postholder. Teaching is allocated by the Programme Director of Spanish Portuguese and Latin American Studies and the Head of Department (Director) of SELCS.

About you The successful candidate will have a Postgraduate qualification (Master's degree or equivalent) within the area of Portuguese Teaching as an Additional Language and/or Portuguese Linguistics and/or another relevant field. They will have knowledge of language assessment and competence standards in the UK and Europe. The post holder will have experience of delivering classroom-based language teaching and of teaching and assessing Portuguese language at university level, including grammar, oral classes, and translation from and into Portuguese. They will have a high level of linguistic awareness regarding the phonetic, lexical and grammatical differences across variants of Portuguese, including Brazilian and European Portuguese.
