Full Job Description
As Associate Director of Operations, you will play a central role in ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Advancement office. Working closely with the Executive Director of Advancement Strategy and Operations, you will help shape the systems, processes and environment that enable our teams to thrive. Your remit will span financial management, operational planning, risk oversight, health and safety, space management, technology coordination and executive office support. You will lead a small, high-performing team and work in close partnership with colleagues across UCL to ensure that Advancement operates seamlessly as part of OneUCL. Your work will ensure that Advancement has the right structures, information and operational foundations to deliver on its ambitious goals. You will help maintain a positive, collaborative culture, support effective decision-making across the Executive team, and ensure that staff have the resources, clarity and environment they need to succeed. We welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time or flexible working arrangements wherever possible, with a minimum of 0.8 FTE. This role is eligible for hybrid working, with at least 20% of time spent on site. You will bring substantial experience in managing budget and office operations processes within a complex organisation. You will be highly numerate and financially literate with experience in ensuring effective budget monitoring processes are in place. You will also be comfortable working at a management level across UCL, be a skilled communicator, with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. You will be organised and able to work on multiple projects adapting to changing circumstances as needed. You will be the person colleagues turn to for clear, practical advice on budgets, procurement, and financial processes while also supporting well-run office operations. If you enjoy bringing order to complexity, working with numbers as much as people, and making processes work better for everyone, this role will suit you well.
