Associate Director of Babies Children and Young People's Professionals

West London NHS Trust has embarked on an ambitious restructure of its services to create a Babies, Children and Young People's Service Line that brings together community physical and mental health services across our 3 Boroughs (and beyond for some specialist services). This creates an opportunity to deliver truly integrated physical and mental health care innovation and the role of the Associate Director of Babies, Children and Young People's Professionals will play a key role in achieving this. The role will report directly to the Clinical Director of the service line to ensure that clinical and professional standards are clear, evidence based, consistently applied and capable of providing assurance through the Service Line into Trust governance structures. The post holder will line manage the Band 8c Heads of Discipline (and any new and emerging professional leadership roles as the Service Line develops), ensuring that professional leadership arrangements are robust, inclusive and aligned with operational priorities, quality governance, workforce development and the Trust's clinical strategy. They will work alongside the Associate Director for Operations, operational leaders and corporate professional leads to strengthen clinical practice, supervision, training, safeguarding, quality improvement and learning from incidents, complaints and patient/carer feedback., o Professional leadership: Provide strategic and operational professional leadership across non-medical disciplines, ensuring that staff are supported to deliver safe, effective, compassionate and developmentally appropriate care.o Line management: Line manage the Heads of Discipline in CAMHS and any new and emerging professional leadership roles as the Service Line develops, ensuring appraisal, supervision, objectives, professional development and performance arrangements are in place and aligned to Trust policy.o Standards and assurance: Develop and maintain systems to set, monitor and evidence clinical and professional standards, including training, supervision, competencies, registration and compliance with relevant policy and regulatory expectations.o Governance: Provide assurance through the Service Line into Trust governance structures, ensuring that risks, incidents, complaints, audit findings, quality improvement work and learning are triangulated and acted on.o Integration: Support consistent professional standards across CAMHS and children's community healthcare services, including 0-19 universal services, while recognising the distinct professional requirements of each discipline and service model., The Candidate Pack provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience and knowledge required. • Relevant professional qualification in a clinical discipline working with babies, children, young people or families.
• Current registration with the relevant statutory or professional body, maintained throughout employment.
• Educated to Masters level or able to demonstrate equivalent senior professional, clinical and leadership experience
• Evidence of recent continuing professional development, including safeguarding, clinical supervision, leadership and quality improvement., Postgraduate qualification, management qualification or equivalent evidence of advanced leadership development.
• Additional qualification in child development, family work, public health, systemic practice, psychological therapies, nursing, AHP, social work or another relevant child-facing discipline., Substantial senior clinical and professional leadership experience in services for babies, children, young people and families.
• Experience of working across CAMHS, specialist mental health, community health or related integrated children's services.
• Experience of setting, monitoring and improving clinical and professional standards across multiple disciplines.
• Experience of line managing or professionally supervising senior clinical leaders and supporting multidisciplinary workforce development.
• Experience of presenting assurance, risk and quality reports through senior governance structures
• Experience of leading change across complex services and working with operational, clinical and corporate colleagues., Experience of professional leadership across both mental health and physical/community children's health services.
• Experience of 0-19 universal services, children's community nursing, therapies, neurodevelopmental pathways or safeguarding partnerships.
• Experience of managing Band 8c or equivalent senior professional leads., Detailed understanding of clinical governance, safeguarding, quality assurance, risk management and regulatory requirements as they apply to children's services.
• Knowledge of professional standards, supervision, revalidation/registration requirements and modern workforce development across non-medical disciplines.
• Understanding of the needs of staff working with children and young people across CAMHS, specialist mental health, community health and 0-19 universal services.
• Knowledge of national policy, inequalities, children's rights, co-production, trauma-informed and family-centred care
• Understanding of quality improvement, audit, research, outcomes measurement and learning from incidents, complaints and patient/carer feedback., Knowledge of North West London children's services, Ealing Community Partners and Hounslow Community Healthcare.
• Knowledge of commissioning, partnership governance, ICB/local authority interfaces and integrated neighbourhood models., Able to provide authoritative professional advice across multiple non-medical disciplines while respecting discipline-specific accountability.
• Able to lead through influence across complex matrix arrangements and maintain effective relationships with operational, clinical and corporate leaders
• Able to analyse complex information and provide clear assurance, escalation and recommendations to senior governance forums.
• Able to develop standards, policies, training plans, supervision models and improvement programmes
• Excellent communication, report writing, presentation and facilitation skills, including the ability to manage sensitive, contentious or highly complex issues.
• Able to support staff wellbeing, reflective practice and safe professional decision-making in emotionally demanding children's services, Able to design or chair multi-professional professional forums, standards boards or assurance panels.
