Full Job Description
As an Associate Director in our Banking Operations Transformation practice, you will lead large-scale transformation programmes across retail and commercial banking. You will work alongside client leaders to redesign operating models, optimise processes, and embed tech capabilities (e.g. automation, AI) that drive sustainable performance improvement and regulatory compliance. Join our growing team and play a key role in shaping the future of banking. Your Key Responsibilities Client Delivery & Leadership
- Lead and deliver operations transformation programmes with our Banking clients
- Advise senior stakeholders on target operating models, cost transformation, and operational resilience
- Deliver large-scale change across onboarding, operations, customer servicing, distribution, lending, onboarding/KYC, and back-office processing
- Ensure delivery of measurable outcomes including cost efficiency, risk reduction, and improved customer experience
- Lead client engagements and develop strong long-term client relationships, recognised as a trusted business advisor in the banking sector
- An understanding of risk, how to mitigate risk and protect the firm's reputation Business Development & Growth
- Originate and lead sales efforts, contributing to revenue growth within the Banking (Financial Services) industry group
- Experience leading and supporting proposal development, RFP responses, and client pitches
- Lead business development work for our key propositions through pre-sales, bid preparation, and client presentations. Showcase our knowledge and experience whilst building relationships with potential clients and identify opportunities to expand accounts and cross-sell broader firm capabilities (e.g. Risk, Technology, Deals, Strategy). Practice & Market Leadership
- Develop thought leadership on key industry topics such as the impact of AI on operating models, the future of service and how to successfully adopt new technologies into business processes
- Build and deploy leading practice methodologies, tools, and assets
- Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated, end-to-end transformation solutions People Leadership & Culture
- Lead and develop high-performing teams
- Coach and mentor junior staff such as Managers and Senior Managers supporting career development and progression
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance team culture aligned with Deloitte values
- Act as a role model reflecting quality, integrity, and professionalism in every interaction
Strong understanding of banking processes, operating models and environments with experience working with UK and/or global retail and commercial banks - Proven ability to lead teams in large-scale transformation programmes (i.e. from operating strategy definition to detailed design and execution) with tangible results through Tier 1 Consulting experience
- Strong programme leadership and stakeholder management skills - leading projects/ workstreams on transformations such as target operating model design and / implementation, automation, migrations, re-platforming, business integration and separation, process re-engineering or cost reduction
- Able to translate complex ideas or solution to all levels of an organisation in an effective manner - including proven experience at influencing stakeholders at all levels to achieve expected results
- Considerable experience overall, working with Banking clients (Retail / Commercial)
- Demonstrated experience delivering large transformation within banking, (incl. onboarding, operations, customer servicing, distribution, lending, onboarding/KYC, and back-office processing)
- Track record in business development and managing/ influencing senior client relationships
- Recent extensive experience within a Big Four Consulting firms or leading consulting organisation (MBBs) required
- Familiarity with digital tools and platforms (e.g. workflow automation, data analytics, core systems transformation)
- Professional certifications (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, PRINCE2, Agile) desirable
