Full Job Description

We are recruiting Assistant EMHPs on a fixed-term contract, with opportunity to progress to the Trainee EMHP course (Feb 2027). We will support you through the University of Sheffield interview and, if successful, transition you into a permanent Trainee EMHP role within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to join the MindMate Support Team (MHST) in Leeds. As a Band 4 Assistant EMHP, you will work with education settings, health professionals, and families to support young people (up to 18) with their mental health and wellbeing. Under close clinical supervision, you will not hold a caseload. You will:

  • Support delivery of evidence-based wellbeing interventions and resources.
  • Promote mental health within schools and community.
  • Support inclusive practice and co-production with service users. Assist with assessments, including risk.
  • Contribute to whole-school approaches (groups, assemblies, training).
  • Attend team meetings and stay updated on service changes.
  • Follow safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Represent the team at events where appropriate.

  • NHS service continuity honoured., This is an exciting fixed-term opportunity to join the MindMate Support Team (MHST) in Leeds as an Assistant Education Mental Health Practitioner (AEMHP), with a clear development pathway to the Trainee EMHP programme (February 2027 intake).
  • You will be supported to apply and interview with the University of Sheffield and, if successful, progress into a permanent Trainee EMHP role within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust Working under close clinical supervision and with no caseload responsibility, you will support the delivery of evidence-based mental health and wellbeing interventions for children and young people (up to age 18), their families, and education staff The role focuses on promoting emotional wellbeing through a Whole School Approach, contributing to assessments and observations, and supporting inclusive, co-produced practice across education settings. You will work collaboratively with schools, health professionals and wider partners, while adhering to safeguarding, organisational policies and professional standards.

  • Level 6 qualification.
  • Experience with children or young people.
  • Not previously attended EMHP training.
