Full Job Description
The post will involve assisting the Speech and Language Therapists in supporting patients communication or swallowing by implementing individual and group therapy plans and supporting clinical administrative systems.
The post holder will work independently with their own caseload of clients under supervision of a Speech and Language Therapist.
The post holder will be working with patients in hospital settings, in patients own homes and in care homes, and will be liaising with other professionals within and outside of the Trust.
Full training, support and supervision will be provided and the successful candidate will be able to access peer support from our friendly and established SLT Assistants.

We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England., + Assisting Speech and Language Therapists to improve patients communication and/or swallowing skills of adults in a hospital and community setting, through direct intervention, liaison and joint working with other staff and carers and across agencies.
+ To make and maintain therapy resources in order to facilitate intervention programmes, under Speech and Language Therapists' direction.
+ To contribute to patient/client assessment through observation.
+ To be confident in the delivery of communication groups with clients under the supervision of the Speech and Language Therapist
The successful candidate must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post as it will involve travel to other sites within the Trust.

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, innovating and creative part-time Assistant Speech and Language Therapist who can contribute a range of skills and experiences to our adult SLT services working within the community and hospital settings across central and west Northumberland.
Based between Hexham and Morpeth, the post holder will be part of a highly motivated team of therapists working to deliver individual and group therapy to patients with speech, language and / or swallowing difficulties.
Good organisation and time management skills are essential along with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to contribute to clinical teams to ensure delivery of effective, client-centred care plans to the highest standards.
The successful candidate will be well supported in our friendly team offering regular team meetings and a commitment to continued development.
We work closely with Kids First Nurseries that are based within our trust grounds at Wansbeck, North Tyneside and Hexham hospitals to care for our Trust family's children, they offer care for children from 6 weeks old up to 4 years.
