Job Description


An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and community-focused Assistant Shop Manager to join Katharine House Hospice's well-established shop in Moreton-in-Marsh on a 15-month fixed-term contract. This is a part time role offering 15 hours per week (2 days); these hours will be delivered across an alternating two-week rota which will include alternate Saturdays. This is a varied and rewarding role that combines retail, customer service, community engagement, and team support. Working closely with the Shop Manager, you will help drive sales, maximise donations, and create a welcoming environment for customers, volunteers, and supporters alike. The successful candidate will play an important role in promoting the shop within the local community, encouraging donations of high-quality goods, and helping to raise vital funds that support an important local cause.



As Assistant Shop Manager, you will be responsible for:



  • Support the day-to-day running of the shop

  • Deliver excellent customer service and create a positive shopping experience

  • Encourage and develop relationships within the local community to increase donations and support

  • Assist with merchandising, stock management, and maintaining attractive displays

  • Support and motivate a team of volunteers

  • Act as an ambassador within the local area, promoting the organisation and its work

  • Help maximise sales and profitability while maintaining high retail standards



As Assistant Shop Manager, you must be/have:



  • Previous retail experience is essential

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Enthusiastic, organised, and able to work independently

  • Passionate about supporting the local community

  • Comfortable working with volunteers and building positive relationships

  • A team player with a proactive and flexible approach
