Assistant Quantity Surveyors

We are recruiting for two Assistant Quantity Surveyors to join us at Octavius, supporting the delivery of major rail infrastructure projects across Network Rail's North West & Central Framework.

As we continue to grow our commercial team in the North, this is an exciting opportunity to join at the start of a long-term framework, gain exposure to major projects and develop your career alongside experienced commercial professionals.

You'll be working on...You'll support the commercial delivery of a portfolio of rail infrastructure projects across the North West, including station developments, power upgrades and rail enhancement works.

Current and upcoming projects include schemes such as Cottam Parkway, Farrington and Crewe, with project values ranging from £25m-£30m+ and programmes spanning both design and construction phases.

In this role, you'll support the commercial team with:

-Cost management, forecasting and reporting

-Procurement and supply chain engagement

-Contract administration and change management

-Subcontractor management, including applications and payments

-Commercial documentation and project reporting

-Site visits and engagement with delivery teams

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle whilst learning from experienced Quantity Surveyors and Senior Quantity Surveyors.

You'll work with...A collaborative team of Quantity Surveyors, Senior Quantity Surveyors and Managing Quantity Surveyors delivering major rail infrastructure projects across the region.

You'll work closely with project teams, clients and supply chain partners, building your commercial knowledge and developing the skills needed to progress your career.

The role offers a mixture of site, office and home working, with regular travel across projects in the North West.

You enjoy building relationships, working collaboratively with others and want to develop your commercial skills on larger and more complex infrastructure projects.

You'll bring...

-Experience within a Quantity Surveying or commercial role, infrastructure, construction or civil engineering. Rail experience is beneficial but not essential.

-Exposure to NEC contracts

-Exposure to cost management, contracts or project commercial activities

-Strong organisational and communication skills

-The ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders

-A willingness to learn and develop within a commercial project environment
