Full Job Description

Want to expand your knowledge and skills in the area of Addictions? An opportunity exists for an Assistant Psychologist to join the ARC Hounslow Recovery Day Programme (RDP) as a Lead Group Facilitator. The successful candidate will lead on the psychological group programme already up and running within the RDP, coordinating and cofacilitating therapeutic groups. This programme is to support services users of ARC Hounslow who are abstinent and are looking to build recovery capital through a structured day programme., + To lead in the coordination and running of therapeutic groups within the Recovery Day Program for ARC Hounslow alongside lead of the RDP and the Peer Support Worker within the RDP, utilising a variety of therapeutic approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, using Cognitive Behavioural, Solution Focused, Positive Psychology and other psychological therapy principles.
+ To undertake assessments of clients referred to the RDP.
+ To work in a highly emotive atmosphere with clients with substance use problems on a regular basis, and be able to communicate sensitive and complex information, whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism at all times. May be subject to verbal aggression in individual sessions.
+ To assess continuously the psychological, emotional, social and rehabilitative needs of own clients/patients, taking into account the needs of family and local community, and developing systematic plans for care and evaluation of treatment plans.
+ To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings.

The Addictions Directorate with CNWL NHS Foundation Trust is a large, well-established provider which offers a wide range of specialist NHS drug and alcohol treatment interventions to the diverse and multicultural populations in Central and North West London. Our Drug and Alcohol services include 7 community services, 1 in-patient service. We also run a National Gambling Service and a Club Drug Clinic.
Our substance misuse services are dedicated to helping reduce the harm caused by substance misuse dependency; helping people overcome their dependency on substances and helping clients and their families rebuild their lives and enable recovery. We are committed to working in partnership with other providers and service users in local systems of treatment and recovery.
What you can expect:
+ Thorough induction, regular individual supervision and reflective practice group
+ Training package to ensure continuous professional development
+ Working within a dynamic team with visibility of the Senior Management Team (Sector Manager, Area Manager and Head of Addictions
The successful applicant will be fully supported in their personal and professional development through a robust framework of supervision, appraisal and training. There will be opportunities to carry out local audits and evaluations., 1. The Lead Group Facilitator will support and enhance the co-production and co-delivery of the RDP.
2. To contribute towards the delivery and evaluation of the RDP.
3. To undertake psychosocial inventions and workshops of clients referred to the Drug and Alcohol Service. This may include using motivational interviewing techniques, self-report measures, risk assessment, rating scales, direct and indirect observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
Providing evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT to help people overcome their addiction).
4. To work in a highly emotive atmosphere with clients with substance use problems on a regular basis, and be able to communicate sensitive and complex information, whilst maintaining a high degree of professionalism at all times. May be subject to verbal aggression in individual sessions.
5. They will develop and maintain, effective relationships with other staff members of the ARC Hounslow team to facilitate excellent partnership working.
6. To attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings.
7. RDP Assessments/Duty assessments will require testing of bodily fluids, and therefore direct contact with urine and/or saliva.
8. To participate in the Needle Exchange program when required.
Teaching, training and supervision
1. In common with all clinical psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.
2. To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the NHS as agreed with the psychologist to whom they are accountable.
3. To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties.
4. To contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.

The successful candidate will be experienced in running groups; completing full biopsychosocial assessments; be willing to share ideas on new group content; to be an active member of peer group supervision with other Assistant Psychologists and be supported by our Lead Clinical Psychologist to further enhance their skills, knowledge and experience in Addictions.
