Full Job Description

The post-holder will work under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist to support the assessment, diagnosis, and management of people experiencing memory difficulties, including those with suspected dementia. You will contribute to high-quality, person-centred care for patients and their families., The post holder will contribute to a range of key clinical and administrative activities, including but not limited to the following: To support the delivery of high-quality psychological services within the Memory Assessment Service by assisting with cognitive assessments, providing pre- and post-diagnostic support, and contributing to service development under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist. Provide feedback to patients and families following multidisciplinary diagnostic meetings. Support care planning and signpost to appropriate interventions and community resources. Assist with audits, research projects, and service evaluations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned in line with clinical and departmental priorities.,

  • Assist in administering, scoring, and interpreting cognitive and neuropsychological assessments.
  • Gather collateral histories and behavioural information from patients, carers, and relevant professionals.
  • Support clinicians in diagnostic clinics and multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Provide evidence-based psychological interventions and psycho-education under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with Trust policies.
  • Contribute to audit, service evaluation, and quality-improvement initiatives.
  • Help develop resources for patients and carers, including well-being and post-diagnostic support materials.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and team meetings.

    We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Assistant Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary Memory Clinic team. This is an excellent opportunity for a psychology graduate looking to develop clinical experience within dementia care, cognitive assessment, and older adult mental health., A degree in Psychology (BPS-accredited) is essential.
  • Experience working with older adults, individuals with cognitive impairment, or in a mental health setting is desirable.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly within an MDT and manage sensitive information confidently.
