Assistant Psychologist

This is an exciting opportunity to join GMMH Learning Disability and/or Autism Strategy group. The role of the Assistant Psychologist will involve supporting members of the Learning Disability and Autism Services across the Trust., The Assistant Psychologist will support the work of the Learning Disability and/or Autism (LD/A) Strategy group. The role will focus on supporting service development across the Trust under the ALD/A agenda. They will work under supervision of the Lead Consultant Psychologist and work closely with LD/A colleagues on training, service development, research and audit projects. There may also be opportunities to work clinically, provide support to the Learning Disability Psychology service and the Adult Autism Diagnostic Service in Wigan. The role is for 0.6 WTE (3 days).

• An honours degree in that satisfies the British Psychological Society criteria for Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership, As in essential criteria, also the following are desirable: Post graduate training in areas relevant to psychological practice, mental health, learning disability, neurodiversity and/or research design and analysis, The post holder should have experience of: Work experience in a health or care setting Supporting people with learning disabilities and/or autism Research methodology, data collection, analysis and report writing, As in essential criteria, also the following are desirable: Previous experience working therapeutically with people with learning disabilities and / or autistic service users and their families Experience of neuropsychological assessment Experience designing and conducting large scale research, audit or service evaluations, The post holder should have: Knowledge of a broad range of psychological theories and the application of these to mental health, learning disability and autism, As in essential criteria, also the following are desirable: Knowledge of psychological therapies and their application Knowledge of NICE guidelines relevant to the role Knowledge of policies and legislation relevant to the role, The post holder should have: Excellent interpersonal skills High level communication skills - verbal and written - with professionals, young people, adults and their families Good time management skills, As in essential criteria, also the following are desirable: Proficient IT skills Ability to communicate sensitive information to children, young people and families, The post holder should have: Be self-motivated and enthusiastic Have the ability to work autonomously within the scope of this role Demonstrate a commitment to respecting and displaying the Trust Values at all times There is an occasional requirement to travel across the wide footprint of the Trust to attend meetings and events relevant to the role.
