Assistant Psychologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for a full-time, permanent and established senior Assistant Psychologist post within the UCLH Cancer & Haematology Psychology & Psychotherapy Service following the current postholder's planned start on doctorate clinical psychology training in late September 2026. This senior assistant psychologist post is based within the UCLH cancer and haematology psychology services, working with two large teams of experienced clinical/counselling psychologists and psychotherapists in specialist acute cancer and haematology care across inpatient and outpatient settings. The postholder will help contribute to the provision of 121 clinical services, psychoeducation workshops, administrative support, audit, evaluation and research activities and the coordination of specialist therapeutic services and groups. There will be the opportunity to work alongside qualified and highly skilled psychological practitioners, to co-facilitate multidisciplinary training and reflective practice sessions for non-psychology staff and to line manage psychology interns within CHaPPS., Line management and regular supervision for the postholder will be provided by qualified specialist clinical and counselling psychologists within the service, with wider service leadership provided by an experienced senior team made up of 2 band 8b psychologists/deputy leads and one band 8c Consultant Clinical & Health Psychologist.

All candidates for this role must have completed a graduate degree in psychology accredited by the British Psychological Society with a first or 2:1 classification. The successful candidate will have a passion for clinical health psychology, be keen to pursue further training in a clinical, counselling or applied psychology in the future and should have previous audit and research experience.

CHaPPs has active links with a larger group of psychologists and psychotherapists within UCLH clinical health psychology services and has ongoing connections with university training courses.
