Full Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Psychologist to join our functional and dementia inpatient wards across Durham, Darlington and Tees Valley as part of Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP). Supervised by a Clinical Psychologist, the successful candidate will work alongside supportive, innovative and collaborative multi-disciplinary teams to deliver high quality and timely evidence-based care to people receiving inpatient care., The post-holder will be involved in supporting the provision of psychologically informed care and psychological interventions through direct and indirect clinical activities. This will include attendance at multidisciplinary meetings, contribution to psychological assessment and formulation, developing behaviour support plans, non-pharmacological interventions, groups and evaluation of outcomes. We have a commitment to staff development and have an excellent track record for developing our psychology workforce. Successful candidates will have good communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate empathy towards our client group. We are keen to hear from candidates with a passion for working with older adults, and an understanding of trauma informed and personalised care.
Applicants must have a degree in Psychology and be eligible for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society, We are looking for highly motivated staff who will lead the way as role models within the team, demonstrating compassionate leadership. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, proactive and flexible, having the ability to work on their own initiative and be able to communicate with internal and external agencies relevant to patient care. You must be able to demonstrate best practice in mental health service delivery.
